Tulsi Organic

Not what I expected

I usually order tulsi tea online and was excited when I found this one available in Nelson, but they are completely different teas. Whereas my usual tulsi tea has primarily holy basil leaves this seems to have a lot of buds, seemingly from the 3 tulsi plants, giving them a different character. The one I am used to tastes primarily of basil and anise, with hints of clove, a strong and soothing brew that tastes like it would go well with Italian pasta dishes or pizza. This one is not unpleasant, but by comparison tastes strongly of flower buds (not just the cornflower), mint, and medicinal flavours. There is also a fair amount of powder residue at the bottom of the cup. I can't say that it's bad, I think that would be a matter of taste, but it's definitely different from my usual tulsi tea and I'm not very fond of the flavour. It's very medicinal instead of herbal.
